Update For Employees and Patients
Posted by shape411 on December 14, 2007
St. Louis, MO, Dec. 14, 2007 – Rob Semaan, chief executive officer of fig., said Friday that, since closing its doors a week ago laying off all employees, a small group of dedicated former fig. employees has stuck around volunteering their time in an effort to assist patients, former fig. staff and vendors deal with the unfortunate consequences of the company’s closure.
In addition to preparing for the bankruptcy filing which is expected to occur next week, the group is working on a plan to help patients who were in the process of being treated when the company closed its doors. Patients who used CareCredit as a payment option to finance treatment with fig., and who may have a question related to their account, are encouraged to follow the dispute resolution process outlined on their CareCredit billing statement. This preserves the accountholder’s rights under the Fair Credit Billing Act. In cases where money was paid for services not received, consumers may file a claim against fig through the bankruptcy process to seek to recover the appropriate amount. Further details will be made available next week.
In terms of assisting former employees during the transition, the group’s efforts this week included setting up an 800 number for employees to check on the status of their compensation and benefits and confirming that health, dental and life insurances plans stay in effect until the end of the year. Former fig. employees can call 1-866-973-4344 to stay abreast of the latest information. Updates will also be made available on .fig’s Web site, http://www.fig.com/. ###
